Girona, located an hour outside of Barcelona, is a must do day trip when you are visiting the area. Based in the beautiful costal mountain range and loaded with historical sites, plus its gained further fame for being home to several Game of Thrones (GOT) sites, it is beyond worth a trip here.

Here are 5 must sees when you check out the city.

Catedral de Girona

This beautiful area might look familiar to those who have watched GOT, and better know it as the stairs of shame. The walk up these stairs leave you standing looking over the city and a nice view of the mountains in the distance.

Located on the backside of the city, and accessible from walking up the alley that is just behind the Catedral (to the right) you come to a set of stairs that lead you on a nice walk of the old wall. It not only gives you a beautiful view of the city and mountain ranges, but it is also an interesting walk into history of the city.

While sadly these baths no longer are working, they are a neat place to check out. And as a GOT fame, its another check-off spot that was used in the series, this time as the Bath of Bravvos. It is also neat to check out from a historical point, as they were built back in the 1100 mimicking baths you can find in North Africa.

Pont de Sant Feliu

While there are several bridges you can cross and admire throughout the city, and I highly recommend, this bridge is especially beautiful because of the houses that line both sides of the riverbank. It feels very much like a canal you’d find somewhere in Italy, and it is quite lovely to see during sunset.

Walking Around

Besides just the main points of interest, this city is so pretty (especially the old town), that you could just aimlessly walk around the small streets and take in all the beauty that is Girona.
